About the Levant.
The levant is a historical geographical large area in the Eastern Mediterranean region of Western Asia. From the beginning of civilization it has been a crossroads of various peoples & cultures. As an important trade region, many changes (both social and economic) have spread across the Middle East and the Mediterranean, leaving behind a bountiful culture.
Thessaloniki which was the second largest city in the Byzantine Empire and the second busiest port in the Ottoman Empire, is currently the second largest city in Greece and considered Greece’s undisputable Gastronomic Capital. We use the highest quality natural ingredients, free of any artificial flavorings or preservatives, and are prepared fresh before we ship them out to you.
Traditional Loukoumi of Thessaloniki by Papadopoulos Loukoumia
A traditional fruit flavored jelly candy delight that is powder sugar coated and called “Loukoumi” . Made from starch and sugar is a confectionary treat, that is very popular amongst people of all ages not only in Greece, but in the whole Mediterranean and Balkan region. Traditionally served with coffee or tea, or with a glass of cold water as a welcome treat in Greek households. This product comes from Thessaloniki in Northern Greece, known as the Queen City of The North and Gastro Capital of Greece. Made by renowned “Papadopoulos Loukoumi” since 1948 in the center of Thessaloniki’s commercial district and is made with all natural ingredients and natural fruit juices, free of any preservatives or artificial ingredients.
